Summer starts here

Macao turns up the heat with a month of festivals and sporting action

June brings an energetic mix of arts, heritage and sporting spectacle to Macao, with a lively line-up of events taking over the city throughout the month.

The 36th Macao Arts Festival (until Jun 27th) offers an engaging blend of performances, workshops, and seminars, that span music, theatre, and the visual arts. The cultural celebrations continue with the 6th Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Chinese Theatre Cultural Festival (Jun 25th-28th), with this latest edition providing an array of acclaimed theatrical productions.

Postage-stamp enthusiasts should mark their calendars for the Macao 2026 Specialized World Stamp Exhibition (Jun 26th – Jul 1st). This first global philatelic event to be staged in Macao features extensive displays alongside sales booths offering stamps and more.

Tradition means muscle power during the Tung Ng Festival (Jun 19th), also known as the Dragon Boat Festival. A seasonal highlight is the 2026 SJM Macao International Dragon Boat Races (Jun 13th, 14th and 19th) at Nam Van Lake. Expect fast-paced action, colourful teams in fierce competition, and a cheering waterfront crowd, as paddlers race across the water.

The sporting thrills continue indoors with the Sands China Ltd. Macau Open Badminton 2026, Part of The HSBC BWF World Tour Super 300 (Jun 16th-21st). Bringing top-level badminton talent to the city, the tournament adds another competitive edge to Macao's summer-events calendar.

With festivals, performances and sporting spectacles unfolding across the city, June is an ideal time to experience Macao at its summer best!
