From Mozart to boy bands, Macao's music – and thrills – are non-stop for January

January in Macao means celebration, creativity, and cool entertainment!

The 18th Macau New Year's Concert 2026 (Jan 3rd), presented by the Macao Youth Symphony Orchestra, sets the festive tone, showcasing talent and a spirit of renewal. It's also the final days of the light-installation extravaganza LIGHT UP MACAO 2025 (until Jan 11th).

New year means fresh sporting spectacles. That includes the 21st Beijing Basketball Game for Chinese of the World Macao, China (Jan 15th-20th), offering skill and a spirit of goodwill.

Macao's multicultural character is also front and centre this month. The Sinulog Macau Festival 2026 (Jan 18th) celebrates Filipino culture, reflecting the city's status as a cultural exchange hub.

For music lovers, high-profile performances include Terry Lin ONEtake 2.0 World Tour in MACAO (Jan 10th) and SUPER JUNIOR 20th Anniversary TOUR <SUPER SHOW 10> in MACAU (Jan 9th-11th). The Macao Orchestra celebrates timeless genius with its "Tribute to Mozart" Series (Jan 23rd-25th), for the 270th anniversary of the birth of the Austrian composer.

As Lunar New Year beckons, Macao's energy amps even further, in a heady mix of colours and sounds of celebration. Streets and alleys alike boast decorations to welcome the Year of the Horse, and bid farewell to the Year of the Snake. Don't miss the traditional Parade for Celebration of the Year of the Horse (Feb 19th and 28th), which draws visitors from far and wide, as well as locals. Festivities also include the 2026 Chinese New Year Activities (Feb 17th-18th) and the Chinese New Year Fireworks Displays (Feb 19th and 23rd).

The festive build-up is just as exciting. The bustling Chinese New Year Market 2026 (Feb 10th-17th) offers everything from decorations to seasonal treats.

Other traditions in the calendar include Activities of selling and lighting firecrackers, fireworks and rockets during Chinese New Year 2026 (Feb 16th-22nd) and Temporary stalls selling incense and pinwheels during traditional festivals of 2026 (Feb 16th-23rd).

February also brings international entertainment to Macao. WESTLIFE: A GALA EVENING IN MACAO (Feb 7th), a concert by the legendary Irish pop band, and Galaxy Macau Presents: The Jimmy O. Yang Chinese New Year Show (Feb 21st-22nd), both promise plenty of fun, adding to the city's festive buzz.
