It’s an all-action April in Macao

From cultural celebrations to comedy performances and top-tier sports, the city is a non-stop showcase of events

April sees Macao's happenings pick up pace outdoors as well as indoors, proving why the city has the well-earned title of "City of Events".

Macao is an established favourite for tourists, and those planning additional getaways elsewhere shouldn't miss the 14th Macao International Travel (Industry) Expo (MITE) (Apr 10th-12th). It offers the latest trends in world travel and hot deals, while serving as a key platform for travel industry professionals to connect and explore new opportunities.

Culture and tradition are ever-present in Macao and April has plenty of both. The Feast of Pak Tai (Apr 18th-21st) honours the god of the north, while the 28th Association of Macau Myanmar Overseas Chinese Water Festival (Apr 18th-21st) welcomes the Myanmar New Year. Easter is marked with Catholic observances, including the memorable Procession of the Dead Lord (Apr 3rd).

Sports fans can catch the world's top table tennis talent at the ITTF Men's and Women's World Cup Macao 2026 presented by Galaxy Entertainment Group (until Apr 5th).

Arts and creativity are well represented too in Macao during April. The 3rd Macau International Comedy Festival (Apr 9th-12th) promises plenty of laughs, whereas Tap Siac Craft Market (Apr 23rd-26th, Apr 30th – May 3rd) showcases unique handmade items.

April in Macao is a month with something for everyone!

May brings a rich combination of traditions, creativity and live entertainment to Macao, making the month's happenings a living link in the long story of the city's distinctive cultural heritage.

Among May's standouts, is the Procession of Our Lady of Fátima (May 13th), a Catholic observance commemorating the apparitions of the Virgin Mary reported in the early 20th century in Fátima, Portugal. Later in May, traditional Chinese rituals are on show: the Feast of the Drunken Dragon (May 24th) returns with colourful rites and energetic performances. May also sees celebrations for the Tam Kong Festival (May 24th), revering a Taoist deity adhered to in the past by local fishing communities. All three events have protected status as part of Macao's intangible cultural heritage, highlighting the city's mix of Eastern and Western traditions.

Macao's creative spirit also blooms at the Tap Siac Craft Market (until May 3rd). The market is a favourite among arts and crafts enthusiasts, and it showcases handmade pieces and specially-designed items created by talented local people.

For music lovers, some major live performances arrive right on cue. KELLY CHEN Season 2 Live in Macao 2026 (May 2nd-3rd) and Sam Lee "One Day" World Tour 2026 in Macao (May 16th) promise memorable evenings for Cantopop and Mandopop fans.

From long-standing rituals to contemporary music and craft, May is a great reminder that Macao is a city where heritage and modern creativity are in perfect harmony!
